CCM Bicycles Information needed.

Hi

I recently found these two bikes, I would guess they are 1960-1970 vintage but haven't been able to find a serial number on either one. If anyone knows when they might have been made or where the serial numbers might be located that information would be appreciated. I'm looking to give both away to anyone whose interested.

Thanks

Clark

Still having problems attaching photos it seems.

To my mind, the chain guard on the mens/boys bike is the most distinctive feature of both bikes.

The boy's bicycle is a CCM Ranger, circa 1973-1976. The serial number should be on the lower, non-drive side of the seat tube. The girls''s bicycle appears to be an early 1960s Rambler. The serial number should be located on the non-drive side, rear dropout.

Thanks T-Mar, I found the serial number on the girl's bike. To my eyes it is J304740. I''ve tried to attach a picture of it, hope it worked.

It's slightly new than I thought, as the J-code serial number indicates 1966 manufacture. In 1966 and 1967, this model was the Rambler 500. Typically, we see these with the sharknose chainguard and the headbadge sticker that were introduced at his time. However, this is smaller than the juvenile and standard sizes that usually surface and looking closer at the chainguard it does look like it may say Rambler 500, so I'm suspecting  that CCM didn't incorporate the updates into the junior and sidewalk versions. I'm looking foward to learning the Ranger serial number.

Hi T-Mar

The Red bike had been somewhat buried in

my shed. I was able to get in and dig it out, I found the serial number where you indicated it would be.

Thank-you! The letter code appears to be a poorly stamped "E", which would make it 1973 manufacture. However, the number is very high, suggesting a 1974 model manufactured in late 1973. In this particular case we know it is a 1974 model based on the colour, as the 1973 version was catalogued in Flamboyant Gold, while the 1974 model is spec'd in Imperial Red.
