CCM delivery basket dimensions
I just got this delivery bike as a frame and fork. I have pieced together parts so I know it is not origonal but it is still neat to me. Does anyone know the dimesions of the basket so I can attempt to make one. Also some help on the date of this bike would be great. The serial # is hard to read. Thanks in advance.
It appears to be a Z-code, so it should be form 1936. That certainly fits with headbadge style and logo chainring. There is a possibility that it could be a 1937 model manufactured in late 1936 but that would seem small given the very low serial number However, to corrobrate you could verfiy it has a '37' model rear hub or not.
Sorry, I can't be of any assistance with carrier dimensiions.
Looks to be 1940
CCM changed the style of basket between the early delivery bikes (pre 1942) and the later bikes (1950's). To make a replca for your bike, you will need the dimensions for the early style basket. Bending the tubing to conform to the original will be the biggest challenge (maybe too costly and troublesome to even attempt). It might be easier just to look for more original delivery bicycles or parts.
Good Luck!

Ah it starts with a Z yes. I was trying to read it upside down. I only have the frame fork and cranks to date it by. That was how I got it. When did they stop using triplex cranks?
1942 was the last year for the Triplex crank on CCM's regular line. Some Flyer and Racer models had a version of the Triplex crank until the mid to late 1950's.

Where are you? I tried to duplicate the carrier but ran into problems. The ''Ts'' were made in the CCM factory. to make the basket, you have to reproduce the Ts
Why doesn't someone with a basket post a photo so the people wanting to make something that will look like and fit have a better idea what they are up against ?
Help out with a photo if you can.
Thanks on the dehalf of the people needing some help.
I would if I had one, but try the search function at the top right corner of this page. I tried a search of the word delivery and found some threads with images. Try a Google Image Search too.

If I ever wanted to make a delivery basket, I would simply use the thickest grade of 1/2" copper plumbing pipes (type K, I believe) available at the hardware store. A 10' bar should do the trick.
They have the "T"s and they are idiot proof to cut, weld and bend.
To add some weight and strenght to it, why not fill it with concrete or a similar liquid!!
Then sand, wash, prime and paint .... bingo, you have yourself a CCM basket.
B-T-W, I should add that when I mean "concrete" I should of said: light leveling cement
