1937 Flyte for sale
This CCM Flyte bicycle, serial number: 4A0506, was handed down to me through our family when I was a teenager (let's say some 65 years ago). I refurbished it in the '50s and rode it until I bought a car, so it has been hanging in my garage for the last 46 years. I'm downsizing now and would like to find a good home for it. I'm thinking $800, but I would entertain any reasonable offer. I'm in Toronto. If you'd like more information, call me at 416 284-6425, or send an email to: escully@loook.ca
Thanks Paul,it was nice to talk to you about the Flyte of your brothers,I look forward to getting together mid week to pick it up for our agreed to price of 800$,hard to tell with the pics, but rideable non the less,Thanks Again & I will contact you after the weekend,Happy Thanksgiving
Congradulations nice purchase jccmcgregor looks like maybe the bicycle may have endrick style rims like a 36 Flyte.
Great price
thanks Greg
Paul has decided to entertain later offers on the Flyte,I just happened to be the first responder and agreed on the price after discussing the history and story of the bike as any of the CCM Vintage crowd would do,I know these things happen and we will see where it goes from here,Best Regards Jamie
Wow I'm interested to know who bought the flyte and how much they got it for, not to be nosey but when a guy has a deal in the works then goes for a better offer.... Shit it must have been a big number...
Crazey it's to bad I guess Possibly it's flytes R us highest bidder. He shouldn't have listed a price and reneged on the deal.Thats dirty stuff
I like Flytes and will find one to finish off my collection someday, but at these prices it will have to wait until my kid is out of daycare! In the meantime, I will have to settle for riding my 1937 all-aluminum Silver King Flocycle. It has curved seat stays very similar to the Flyte.
Nice ride there Brian
Brian $800,00 is a reasonable deal but who ever the seller resold it to probably got 1000.00 to $1250.00 as its a rider
Thanks Greg. I paid $200 for the Flocycle.
$200 seems like a steal, saved yourself $1000.
I think we should have a live bidding on this forum for when a bike comes up for sale, seems the only logical thing. 1. Bike to 100 guys.
Hey Btian what to sell the flocycle ?
Not for sale, but thanks. It's probably in the top 3 of my favourite bikes. I think an online auction is a fair and reasonable solution when selling a bike in high demand like a Flyte. If it were mine, I would probably put it on Ebay with a notice here directing people to the listing.
well obviously, $800 was too cheap for that Flyte with those rims, so whoever was trying to make a deal at $800, they were trying to steal it and should of offered higher to secure the deal ..... can't be cheap in that sort of deal
that Flyte is an easy sale at $1400 canadian IMO, and probably more down south
yes Ebay would have been the best place for it!!!
Jamie,
Reluctantly, but for the record, I feel compelled to respond to your two comments above. From the outset my chief concern was to find a good home for my friend and companion of more than 70 years (so that one of us might live on). I was happy to recieve your first expression of interest, but thought I had made it clear that I wanted to gauge the response to the posting before makiing a decision. In the meantime, I have learned much from conversations with you and other collectors. I am impressed with the extent of knowledge, and the depth of passion for preservation shown by you and all that I've talked to. I'm truly sorry if you feel betrayed - that was not my intention - but I think I now have found the best home for my bike. I hope you can accept that and carry on with your good work.
Paul
May the new owner Please Stand up
Paul
I read your listing in this "for sale" section.
You wanted 800.00 or would take a reasonable off.
That usually means a offer for less.
Never do people suggest a price and think they will get more than they ask.
If you were looking for a value for the bike you should have listed it in the "what.s it worth" section.
If you did you would have noticed the same type of bike was the last thing listed there.
Clearly you were posting it to sell it and you got the price you asked. Done deal.
You also say "you think you have found the right guy for the bike" after talking with Jamie and agreeing to sell it to him.
Does that mean Jamie wasn't the right guy for the bike ?
Do you really think you know Jamie ? Know anything about his CCM passion ? Do you know he has been hosting CCM vintage bicycles shows and swap meets for well over a decade ?
What makes you think this other person is the "right one" ? He has more money ? Says the right thing to steal the sale ?
I personally think you have made a mistake in judgement.
In the process, you have shown your true self and that is a shame.
I hope you at least gave Jamie the option to match the higher bid.
Just how it looks on the other side of the deal.
Words of truth!
People here always get emotional whenever a Flyte appears for sale. If Jamie had bought the bike for $800, it would have been his to do with as he pleases. He could for example, turn around and sell it to me for $1,200 if he wanted. Likewise, it was Paul's bike to sell to whomever he pleased for whatever amount he wanted. He had the bike for 65+ years after all, and we don't know his situation beyond that.
