1940's CCM Cleveland

Hello,  I was hoping if someone could tell me if the rims on this cleveland are original? They do not look like regular ccm rims. I know the hubs are ccm...  I can email some high resolution photo's of the wheels if that helps.... I have never seen a Cleveland before, so I am not sure......    Thanks, Dave

They appear to be Endrick rims (flat sides, no centre ridge), chromium plated, which initially show up in the 1934 catalogue,  on most models including the motorbike models (like yours) as standard wheel for the " new Canadian size tire" 28 X1 3/8" .  They continue to be listed as standard or optional rims in catalogues into the 50s.

Thanks Wayne,   I was hoping they were endrick as I have not seen a set before...  I am going to purchase this bike, but the price was depending on that information...    Dave

hey Dave, i guess we both missed the bike, couldn't go to Montreal in time and some guy in Montreal bought it, the serial on it made it a 1934...... Max

This bike have the same chainring than my 1939 Zenith. I almost thought that the BB had been changed. Good to see another CCMers with the same Chainring.

Too bad you miss the sale. This was a neat bike.

With you bike I now know what the missing chain guard should look like.

Here's a picture of my boy.

I guess I can't post a picture in a reply. Try this link instead.

Mine as a harmless Perry hub in the back. Also missing the rods.

that is the kidney bean CCM chainring

common on CCM's from the 1930's, i see it on about 50% of the bikes i try to buy

it was on most of my Massey's and Columbia's

didn't know Perry hubs were used on CCM's

chainguards like that i had never seen before, don't know if it was original!!!!

My 1925 CCM Cleveland looked identical to that one. Same chainring and everything.

Yeah, I wish I could have got there earlier as well Max...I went up today though and bought 41 ccm Roadster in very good condition...

yeah $130 was a fair price

10 years later. I was the lucky guy from Montreal who bought it back in 2012. Starting to work on it today. Still in the exact same shape as it is on the picture.
