Canadian Military bicycles from WW1, WW2

Hello. I am new to the forum. I am looking for information, on what bicycles were used by the Canadian Military in both World Wars. I recently purchased the book “Bad Teeth, No Bar” but it has not yet arrived.  I would be interested in purchasing a correct bicycle from each era and kitting them out. Any help would be grately appreciated. Andy.

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the Vintage CCM Forum. CCM was involved in providing military bicycles in both World Wars. I am only somewhat familiar with what was offered in World War II. CCM produced relatively standard "Rambler" models that were completely painted in olive drab. The one I saw even had the Rambler headbadge painted.

During WW1, the Canadian Cyclist Corp purchashed a total of 1220 Canadian made bicycles for the Cyclist Corps:

1) 1020 purchased from Canada Cycle & Motor Co.; at a cost of $55 each,

2) and 200 purchased from Planet Bicycle Co., Toronto, at $55 each.

Once in France, additional Eurpean bicycles were purchased, namely from Humber Bicycles, and also the BSA-made Mark I.

The British-made bicycles proved more performant in teatre, so eventually additonal purchases were sourced from BSA.

The BSA Mark I and Mark II, was well as the folding paratrooper bicycle were used during WWII.
