It's a mystery to me.....

Small point, but it's a mystery to me why the stick (or gloves for that matter) that accompanied Paul Henderson's '72 Summit Series sweater on the recent Henderson Jersey Tour (pictured below) didn't have a CCM logo on it. Anyone?

Looks like the CCM logo was on the cuff and was trimmed. What a shame!

clip from classicauctions:

"The glorious gloves were originally sold in our May, 1999 auction. They are the gloves Paul Henderson was wearing when he scored the historic series-winning goal in Moscow in Game 8. The red and white leather mitts came from a great source, Team Canada trainer Joe Sgro. The pair retains the original leather palms, but as Sgro explains, his kids, having no idea of the future value, cut the cuffs short to use for street hockey. The now-shortened and hemmed pair of CCM Team Canada gloves will never lose their importance and place in hockey's history."

Good eye Doug. Welcome to the site. Isn't that interesting. That solves that mystery.

Henderson used sticks with a colored CCM logo in the 1972 Canada-U.S.S.R. series and the stick in this display was a team-autographed game-used stick, but it's not the 'series winning-goal' stick. I read Henrderson brought five sticks to Russia.

It looks like the logo was removed from the display stick or something applied removed it because there are still small traces of the red/white part the color logo in a close-up pic.

I put the pic in my photobucket:
