What is wrong with the handle bars they look correct? What other parts are you looking for?

The Handle bars are quite rusty & pitted. Do you know if they were chrome or painted?

Hello Ryan, Jamie here in Brantford and as Dave says the bars are correct and by the pic they look like someone may have painted them? They are either chrome or nickel plated depending on the year, have you found the s/n on the top of the seattube.Look for the letter designation.Hoping that you know of the 2014 Winter Canadian Vintage Bicycle Indoor Swap  here in Brantford on Saturday January 18/14 8-4pm.Thanks Happy New Year     mcyes1@hotmail.com

hi Ryan,

interested in the bike, if you want to sell email me

If you really want to do a real restoration, you should get the parts replated. If you don't want to spend that much money on this bike, just brush the parts with steel wool and WD-40 until all the rust and dirt is gone.

IMHO you should just clean the parts, repaint the frame, fork and rims dark blue or burgundy and rebuild the wheels with stainless spokes.

good luck with the project, it looks like a good complete bike. :)

Serial # on seat post is S18803. Any info would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Hello Ryan, your CCM Massey is a 1931.This model was available with optional Tri Plex 3pc crank, Gibson pedals, truss rod front end for the Sport model. It is possibly a bike that may have shed a few of those options over the years?Would not be to hard to find the said parts if you are to do a full restoration?Winipeg Guy has shown some great scans of the 1931 catologue which I am sure you have seen.Hoping you will be attending this saturdays CVBS 1st Annual Indoor Vintage Bicycle Show & Swap?Bring your bike if you like to show, everyone loves to see that unique Massey Silver Ribbon badge that is sought after in all Massey eras!Best Regards Jamie

Thank you very much for the info Jamie! Will try and get out to swap meet Saturday.

Thanks again,

Ryan

it is rather a question, I have an old double bar with a CCM 1937 rear hub ; it is definitely CCM related, but the serial number stumps me : OC255P.  Help please,

As far as I narrowed it up to now, it would be  a CCM Crescent Motorbike Model, but the seriaL NUMBER STILL STUMPS ME. OC255P. This time, I am attaching a picture; the truss bars are not chromed but are welded to the fork.

Would it be a 1939 or somewhere around that....

dscn0435.jpg

Truss bars were welded/rivited to the fork in 20s to early 30s.  The first catalogue I have  that mentions removable truss bars is the 1934; it is not mentionned in the 1932 catalogue. I don't have a 1933 catalogue to determine if that was the year for the change

Your bike is also equipped with the Hercules crankset in 1932 .  In the 34 cat, the Crescents have a CCM single piece hanger with the kidney chain ring

I have a 1927 Cleveland motorbike with the same fork and truss combination

If the fork and hanger are original to the bike then it would probably be pre 1934, but, it may also be a 1939 frame with mods over a 75 year period

Also, there may be mis-stamping of letter/numerals of the serial #s

Clear as mud????
