1923 Cleveland

Picked this up at the bike show a couple years ago from Mr. McGregor and finally got around to making it rideable.  Pretty much every moving part was worn out, but the frame was straight and suprisingly rust free.  I normally don't like to paint bikes, but I think this one will be an exception.  Originally it was black, but in the last 91 years a few differnt colours and layers have made it on top of the original paint.  The grips, seat, and pedals are temporay.  An order will be placed for some more suitable replacements in the near future.  Despite the shabby looks it rides pretty nice.  I'll probably ride it for the summer, work any bugs out, strip it back down again and paint over the winter.

Anone else have anything in the works for the summer?  It's getting nice out, and things have been pretty quiet around here lately.

Erik. Very nice bike indeed. I bought a 38 Cleveland yesterday in Edmonton. Rides like a dream. Like yours mine came without fenders, do you know if they came with chain guards?  Duane

Duane,

Thanks for the comments.  This one had fenders, but they fit poorly and looked a bit funny so I took them off.  From what I can tell it never had a chain guard.

Chain guards were optional.

After 5 long lears I finally managed to finish the bike.  Not an accurate restoration, but it came out looking just as I wanted.
