1967 GT - 101 DUOMATIC

I'll have more about this GT at a later time.  It's a real nice bike I found in great shape.  I haven't ridden it much yet, but I plan to this summer.  It could use some new White Walls and I find the seat is real uncomfortable... but it's original so it's gotta stay.

Wheels 26 or 28 inch?

28" tires.

If the bicycle is a rider just install whatever seat you find comfortable. However, put the OEM saddle in storage for when you eventually sell the bicycle or take it to shows.

I searched in bike stores and online for 28" whitewall tires and found none anywhere. Then one day a bike store had a pair, but only because they came on a new bike and the buyer had asked them to swap in different tires. So if you also have difficulty finding tires, you could look for these. They are Duro Cordoba 700x35C 37-622. Attached is a photo of one on my '63 MkII. Unless your original equipment whitewalls have a tube squeezing through a hole, don't throw them out!

Hey, thanks a lot Brian.  I'll keep that in mind... the front tire on this bike is original and in pretty good shape.  It's the rear tire that's missed matched.

i have a shipping container half full with NOS vintage tires

if you are not in a hurry,  when snow melts (we just got 20cm today), I will check

I know i have 28"X1 1/4"X1 3/4" (32-622) white walls in there, but might be too skinny for you

if I find a pair, i will give them to you and you pay shipping from Quebec.

write me a private message so I don't forget, tend to be a little busy

Is that an MKIII Chopper in the back?

I tried to post this photo yesterday but it was too large and I had to crop it. When I bought the bike it had blackwall tires. I think it looks better with white walls. The rear wheel is being trued. You mentioned you don't like your seat but I think these two-tone seats complete the bike appearance wise, especially if it's wearing whitewalls. Mine had a 10-speed seat. I had to buy an entire (girls) bike to get that seat, which is basically in unused condition. Anyway, back to the tires, I should mention that when I was searching bike stores for 28" ww's, that included asking them to check their catalogues for special order tires. Until I found these Duro tires I had thought none were available. If bicyclecollector Max has NOS tires that's even better - that's very generous of you Max. What is your oldest pair of NOS tires? Do you have any from the 1930s?

No, there is no MKIII Chopper in the background, that is a 1969 Datsun Roadster project car that I will be selling this summer.

The Chopper is in the background of Avroe's original pic, not talking about your picture Brian.

I think Avroe is refering to the riding "comfort" of the seat, not the look.

Tires from the 30's, 40's and Balloon tires from the 50's are all for my current and future projects .... sorry, NFS.

Ah, ok, thanks Max. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Max, that's a very generous offer on the tires for my GT.  Thanks a lot and I'll take you up on that someday soon.  I'll cover the cost for shipping of course, and I'll make sure you get a profit also.  I think they will be worth it for sure.  The Chopper you seen in the background photo is an original MK2 from 1973.  I found that bike on Kijiji a few years ago, and I had it shipped to Brandon, MB from Alberta.  It's in amazing condition.  It has a very rare Sturmey Archer Dyno front hub.  Everything on the bike works perfectly.  My 13 year old son uses it for summer cruises.

It looks like we have a few things in common Brian.  That's a great looking Imperial... she's a classy ride with white walls.  I always liked that blue, it looks real good with shining chrome rims.

Thanks for your advise.

By the way, I have an old roadster too... a 1972 MGB  :)
