Another TIRE SIZE Question

I'm looking to switch things up by swapping out my black tires for some gumwalls, but I'm going crazy trying to find some to fit.

The tires that are currently on the bicycle are marked: (40-571)  26 X 1 1/2

1. Would these tires fit?

http://www.amazon.com/Tire-26-1-1-1-5-Gw/dp/B00AKGQ86O/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF...

2. Or would these ones?

Or if neither would fit, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

     -Thank you

it should fit, but did you check with your local bike shop first? they certainly can get those and you could try them on your wheels. :)

Both fit without problems depending what you want as thread too.

Thanks a lot Old-Bikes and bikedenis.  I ended up ordering option #2 today.

You're welcome J, Talbott.

your orginal tires are 571 the ones  you ordered are 584 i dont think they will fit. option one does not give enough information to determen if correct.          william rudolph

That's what I thought Willam Rudlph, but seeing as I have already ordered them I'll have to try and make them work out.  Thank you for your input.  Do you have any suggestions on where I might tires in the size that I need?

i do not know of any place that carry gumwalls in 571 size sorry but regular bike shops can order 571 size in blackwalls from damco        william rudolph

So I recieved the tires today and as William Rudolph predicted they did not fit.  I tried to make them work but they were much too big to tuck into the rims.  Luckily the seller I bought them from has a return policy.  I guess I'm sticking with black.

The tires your ordered will not fit, you'll have to return them. You need tires with a 571 BSD (bead seat diameter). Nothing else will work on those rims. I don't think the first link in your post will fit either, although they don't specify a BSD.

Any local shop with a Babac account can order the right size in a wider, blackwall tire. You'd have to be sure the wider tire fits in the frame, fenders, etc. Part #: 78-381.

If ordering from the States, or from a shop with a QBP account, part #: TR513will work (correct width), but again- black wall only. I'm not sure if you'll be able to find a gumwall.

Do not rely on fractional/imperial sizing. Good luck!
