Cruiser Fork Crown Race Removal

Hello all, I have a late 60s cruiser by SCP (CCM) with a very badly pitted crown race. I am wondering if it is possible to remove these or if they are welded in place somehow. I will post a photo soon, but I was wondering if anyone here has experience with headset overhaul.

to remove the fork crown race  it is just a friction fit  so tap it off a little from both sides. these come in a few sizes so get out your vernier caliper one slightly smaller will split when trying to install. to install find a piece of pipeslightly larger with edges at  180 degrees to the pipe use a pipe cutter to achieve this.then use the pipe as a tool by sliding the pipe up and down as a battering ram hope this  helps i worked  as a bicycle mechanic for  a while and am still involved teaching bicycle repair as a vounteer       hope this helps  william rudolph
