Early 1930's CCM Crescent for sale
Hi guys,
For sale is an early 1930's (I will include a photo of the serial number, so feel free to inform me as to the exact date of bike) CCM loop frame Crescent. BIke has beautiful original paint patina, and all parts appear to be original. The decals (especially the 'Crescent') are in very nice shape. Whees are 28", and head badge is really clean. I am asking $175.

Sorry, I maybe should have included my e-mail. Contact Steve at s_zagz@yahoo.ca.
Thanks.
S O L D .
What years did C.C.M. use the Cresent branding? Was there any other areas of the frame were the year of production was stamped in a differant area of the frame, from the above photo.
Cheers,
Alex
Hello Cresents that I viewed or owned had a Cresent head badge.Maybe some one changed out the OG one that was on the bicycle ?
thanks GT
The CCM headbadge is correct. Originally, Crescent was a distinct brand with the round Crescent headbadge. In either 1933 or 1934 it was demoted to use as a model name within the CCM brand and these used the CCM headbadge. The serial number indicates that the subject bicycle was manufactured in 1935 and therefore would be a CCM Crescent with a CCM headbadge.
As for years of Crescent manufacture by CCM, I'd say at least 1926-1940. While my documentation for the era is far from complete, Crescents appear in the 1926, 1927, 1928, 1932, 1934, 1936 and 1938 catalogues, and a price list dated November 27, 1938, which is late enough in the calendar year that it should be for the 1940 model year. While they could pre-date 1926, I doubt they post date 1940.
Regarding serial number locations, the seat lug was used through to the end of the 1957 model year, except for a brief period from August 1949 through 1950, when it was applied to the bottom bracket shell. Circa 1958, CCM revised the serial number format, expanding it to seven characters. This appears to have coincided with a new location for the serial number on the rear dropout, as it appears in this location on 1960s models, up unitl 1969, when it moved to the lower, seat tube.
Thanks for the Info' folks!
Alex
I made a typo in my previous post. The November 27 price list is from 1939, not 1938.
