Early CCM Head Badge

Based on information from early CCM catalogues, CCM head badge as illustrated labeled ‘A’, preceded CCM head badge as illustrated labelled ‘B’.

From what I could find with reference to CCM catalogues, badge ‘A’ shows up in 1926 and 1927.

Badge ‘B’ appears to begin to show up in 1927 on the CCM Flyer, then in 1928 badge ‘B’ is available on other models.

Notice the similarities of badge ‘A’ to the CCM Cleveland badges ‘C’.

I don’t recall ever seeing the early CCM badge ‘A’ before.

If anyone knows any different or has an example of badge ‘A’, I welcome the discussion.

Below is the image from the 1927 CCM catalogue.

I have never seen the Badge "A" example either.

I am beginning to think that either this head badge is extremely rare or CCM never got around to producing it.

Makes me wonder if they changed the design direction to the 'diamond' because of the very similar appearance and design features to the CCM Cleveland badge.

Any other thoughts out there?

 Hi Mark

I think i had a picture of that  head badge on a frame from some bicycle pictures from the Ottawa museum.   I still have some of the pictures but can't find that one as i got rid of some of them some time ago. You might try contacting the museum and see if they still have it.

I just found the  picture of the early CCM head badge . I have never seen one on a bike. This badge is on a bike in Ottawa museum and is on a Hygienic frame model.

wow, that is a beautiful badge

great design imo

in the original post, might be good to include the badges with the inserts (model on top and city of manufacture on the bottom)

great work Mark

FYI, I have badge "B" on both my 1926 Lea Gauld Flyers

You can see the badge on the OG picture of the bike posted by John

and proof from the CCM letter from M. Braden (CCM GM and VP) that the bikes are 1926
