Early CCM Seat

Good  day to all, I recently purchased an early CCM seat at the recent auction featuring the "Gloria and Jack Gordon Colletion". The seat is made of leather, and features the embossed "C C & M Co. Limited inprint. I found a similar seat in the 1918 CCM catalogue, called the "motorbike padded". It features the lucky 7 seat post, and the structure is very solid. There is a small tair under the seat. The original seat truss is broken is half. I kept it, and installed another truss from a newer saddle for the time being.

Would anybody be able to estimate the year, and value in its current state?

Thanks

Hi Marc

Is the seat base broken. As that is what it looks like to me. I think it would be made of wood. Nice seat. Seats go for a pretty good price I think you did alright. I think it went for 90.00 which is low in my book if the base is not broken. I think I have the same seat but the CCM .is hard to read on mine but other wise in great shape

The frame seams fine. No movement, no craking.Yes,it did go for 90. I was not if I over payed or not. Do you know how old they usually are?

I would say very eearly 1900's Just after CCM was formed. What size is the seat post shaft.?

15.2 mm, or .6" (just over 1/2").

My other CCM seat shafts are at 16.8mm, or .66".

What does that mean?

Hi Again Marc

I meant  the diameter of the seat post shaft that goes into the frame. In inches.

Half inch (.06").

Marc

Hi Marc

I/2 inch seems small for the diameter of the shaft that goes into the frame. Is that out side  diameter, which is what i wanted.Looking at the first picture showing the post it sure looks bigger than that to me.

You are right. It’s ¾ “.

Hi Marc

Did you receive my PM   I am looking for a 3/4 inch seat post so if you would like to part with it i would be interested.

Dave

thanks Marc for the seat

seat and seat post size are a perfect match for my pre-18 Massey

found a period correct replacement frame for the seat

fits perfectly.

the seat base is in perfect shape, it's that bar of steel that links the two rear springs that was bent too far
