mini track bike

Here's a bike a few here may find interesting.  It was rescued from a barn 20+ years ago and was brought to my Dad to do a restoration on.  It was built by CCM for "Little Bobby Bentley" who was 6 years old at the time for some form of track racing.   I was told the bike is from 1932, but can not find any serial numbers to comfirm.  He did have paperwork from when the bike was built, but kept that when he gave it to my Dad for work.  My dad has not heard from him in years.  Anyways, here are a few shots of the beast.

after a quick wash with soapy water

handlebars/stem/bracket were apparently custom made for him

skip tooth chain ring/ block chain/ 3piece crank/ fixed gear

super stylin' CCM logo

wooden wheels in bad shape from poor storage

The bike is probably not going to be ridden again, but will be a great to preserve as is for a decoratiion/ conversation piece in the house, or to show.  If anyone has any more info on the bike or Mr. Bobby Bentley himself, that would be great to hear.  Now if only I could find something like this in my size I would be set.

That is super cool!

Erik:

That is absolutely mind-boggling!!! Thanks so much for posting the pics. I can't believe you have that bike. What an incredible piece!!!

Below are a couple of shots of the bike:

The top one shows Torchy Peden sitting on the bike with Bobby Bentley. Looks like they're doing a demonstration at a bike rodeo or fair or something. It was taken in 1935.

The bottom one shows Bobby riding the bike on on top of what was called a home trainer. There's a crowd, but I don't know the event. It is from 1938.

I will try and hunt down some additional info on Bobby Bentley and the bike. I still can't believe you have it. Incredible!

John,

Thanks for the pics and info on the bike!  Seeing it in it's prime makes me want to show it a little more love and get it rolling again.  My dad will be thrilled to hear a little more history on the bike as well.

No problem Erick. I'm just amazed that you have the bike.
