New Guy - Old CCM Tricycle

Evening:  New to the website and wonder if anyone can tell me anything about my CCM Tricycle. It was bought used for me on Vancouver Island in 1951, so I am guessing it is a 1940's vintage. Attached are some pictures. Thanks for any help you can give.

Rod,

Based on my experience with vintage CCM tricycles and the head badge, post war between 1947 and 1949.

They used a similar but larger head badge on the bicycles in this time frame.

To my knowledge, CCM did not use serial numbers on the tricycles, therefore dating an exact manufactured year is difficult.

Think twice about restoring it if that is what you want to do.

It would be fantastic sandblasted and painted, but it will not feel

like YOUR old tricycle.

Sometimes original patina is far better than a new shiny paint job.

Just something to consider incase your idea was to restore it.

Speaking from experience.

Thanks. You seem to have confirmed my impression that it was likely a late 1940's trike. I also took a good look at repainting it and deciided that anything I did would not likely enhance the appeal of the trike, as it obviously still has its orignal colours. I will be leaving it as it is. Any strong suggestions as to what I do with it now? Even my grandkids are too old for it now although they did ride it a few times.

You can list it here in the for sale forum, put it in the bike section of Kijiji or whatever site is popular in your area. If you're still in Vancouver you're too far away from the Brantford swap meet but there might be an antique, bike, or toy swap meet in your city.

Great grand kids are next ! Keep your tricycle in the family. I would think your childhood memories are worth more than the 50 bucks you might get for it.

Maybe just replace the pedals. You will need a set with 1/2" threads.

If it really doesn't mean anything to you anymore, sell it. Someone would love it !

The for sale section on this site is best to sell it.

it would look great all restored.

fun little project!
