newbie

hi everybody i just wanted to say hello  my name is Dana,i have these 2 bikes that i got a few years ago a couple of years ago from the original owners.his bike is a ccm red ballooned bike, double crossbar and all original.i had to search around to find the pedals and handlebars for both bikes and the old guy tied them all together and put them in the house.it even has the original ccm wrench in the tool poch behind the seat.i was  told this bike is between 39-45. serial # is6d1026,i put the pedals and handlebars on and air in the tires and rode them both.i'm guessing this would be a 9 out of 10.her bike does not have the original tires but all there.a couple of cool bikes i would put some pics on but i'm not sure how it is done.i will try anyway.enjoy!that light is from a trophy i built for a car show.the last pic is it hanging in my garage

hi Dana if thats the right serial number your his bike  is a 1940 . very nice bike.

Hi Roaddog

Welcome to the site. I love your prewar CCM Double Bar Ballon Tire Bicycle very sweet ride, I would be very fond of it if I owned it. Quick question I love the red tires and who were they made by if you don`t mind posting that information. I believe I have the catalogue page for  your balloon tire.Again sweet ride and thanks for posting

Nice bikes, the guys bike has a combination stand that was in the catalog of the day.

So I have a question about the stand. I have heard it called a '' Brooks""  combination stand did Brooks make it? anybody know?

Those are really nice bikes.

If iI had that sled I would  play the ''Mercury blues'' 'till the passenger started to scream...

Im pretty sure "Brooks"  did not  make any bike stands.   That stand is made by CCM according to the catalogues,  "made by CCM" it says.  Brooks make saddles & bags,  leather and canvas goods.     Ron

Great set of Bicycles, absolutely love that double bar. Do you know what the Ladies bicycle might be? Thanks so much for sharing.

Brooks didn't neccesarily make the stand's in question., But my brother in law has an old bike (which we are still unsure of what it is) that has a rear rack that looks extremely similar to the racks that ccm had for these bikes, but it is stamped "BROOKS" at the tail end of the rack. Both him and myself still have not been able to find another one like it at all. Oh and don't worry i continually bug the hell out of him to sell it to me :P

Thanks guys, my stand has no markings at all, but that solves the mystery of why somebody called it a brooks stand.

I got mine at a swap meet out here, I've seen other racks exactly like it for sale out here but there was never any drop stand attached.

So what does the head badge say on the woman's bike?

Does it say zenith?

that bike looks really familiar .my guess is the head badge says B. F GOODRICH.

The ladies bike frame is a SCP, Toronto (A CCM subsidiary after WW 2).  Note the serial number flange  at the rear of the head tube between the down tubes.   I believe SCP were the only ones to have this feature.  See comparative photos here http://s917.beta.photobucket.com/user/dobie45/library/1948%20SCPs

Nice eye for the bike guy Gillies definetly a Standard Cycle product.
