66 or 74, depending what model it is. You need to share more details. smiley

If the serial number is located near the bottom of the seat tube then it was most likely built in 1974 but could also conceivably be a 1975 model, if it was built later in the year. There is also the possibility of it being a 1981 or 1982 model, manufactured in the last years, just before CCM went bankrupt.

If the serial number is located on the rear dropout then it is early 1960s, probably circa 1963, though we don't have enough data from this period to make a definitive statement. With all due respect to member ccmuslebikes, it is not 1966, based on my shop ledger which documents the sales of 131 CCM bicycles in 1966.

If you have a model name, that should allow to determine which of the three scenarios it fits.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I don't know the model, there is no stickers or any markings. Only the serial number. It is a 5 speed with Suntour shifter, maybe that was updated though. Or would there be a model number printed on the frame?

It sounds like you may have the five speed version of the 1974-1975 CCM Targa, as this was the only 5 speed I recall that was offered with SunTour.  The 1974 version was blue while the 1975 version was white.

That could be the sticker that would give me a clue was scrubbed off. It was a light brown colour, i've since stripped the paint. Thanks for your input, really appreciate it.

Definitely not a Targa, if it was brown. Thyere was a 5 speed city city bicycle called the Elite with fenders and upright handlebars during 1974-1975 but they typically employed Shimano derailleurs. The Elite was brown but it was a dark brown. In 1981-1982 the 5 speed was the Caprice but it was catalogue in burgundy, green and stardust., and spec'd with a Shimano derailleur. In the 1960s, CCM didn't re-introduce deralleur equipped models until 1966 and there were no five speeds except the hi-riser Firebird which was red. You should post some pictures as there is a possibility that the parts are not OEM and/or that it is a repaint.

When it's painted and reconstructed i will post a few pictures. Thanks so much for the history and info. i really appreciate your knowledge and help. i'm totally hooked to CCM's now.
