My 1st bike was a little red ccm that my dad bought from an old farmer in Welland Ont on the corner of Foss and South Pelham  in around 1970; a beat up but reliable coaster just my size and I loved that bike. there were several to choose from leaning against the fence and that was the only red one and it looked the fastest. 5 bucks!!!

A multitude of bikes and a life well lived on them all; dirt roads, trails, etc...thought I might like to get into racing so my friend Farsam who ran Petries Bike shop in Thunder Bay Had a Concord Americas racing bike that was burned up in a house fire and gave me the frame to get stripped and repainted. For 600 bucks he built that bike for me with all new components and that was a deal. It was all I could afford with a young family. I still have it looking brand new and it rides true.

Im not a collector of old bikes, just have held on to a few as I have upgraded so have 3 older mountain bikes bought in 91,96, and 2006 that I still use.

Was browsing the local kijiji the other day looking for a used bike for a friend to use to commute to work and happened upon an ad for an old CCM; A 1929 Cleveland that had been posted for 11 days and it must have been meant to be because I bought it; I had to because nobody else wanted it. Didn't matter that it was overpriced in my opinion for a 92 year old beater, I gave the guy 300 for it but to me it is priceless. Brought it home and gave it the treatment...disassembled, and cleaned it up, and found out it was actually a maroon colour :)...and weird how the old bearings and rear hub brake components looked brand new on inspection even the little triangle bits and drum  looked hardly worn once cleaned. The tires, made in Holland are cracked but still hold air. It came with the original kick stand, speedo, bell, light and generator working. I took off everything but the bell and kick stand and stored it,  prefering my LED batt powered lights when necessary I like it less cluttered especially nice not having any cables or wires running down the front end. Still missing a few spokes in the rear but doesn't seem to mind. Not sure why is has a "37" rear hub but perhaps it was rehubbed at some point, or perhaps the frame was built in 29 but laid around the factory for years before being fully assembled as my friend Faesam suggested...Who knows. Been riding around all over the place and I just love it. Riding it to my dentist appointment in a hour from now.

Only found this website after needing to find out about my new bike and so thank you so much for taking the time to create it and maintain it. Thank you so much the least I can do is share my bike with you and wish you all well and sunny days to ride in. Sometimes the older stuff ends up being pushed aside and neglected but often its the best stuff for lots of reasons...simpler reasons...
