1942 CCM Red Bird in Blue?

Good day to all, I am new to this forum.

I recently purchased a 1942 CCM Red Bird, in much need of TLC.

It has been repainted several times, and the original color appears to be a Baby Blue. Is this an original CCM color, and if so, what is the color code? Are there any paints on the market that resemble CCM colors? One of the collectors on this blog (Mark) appears to have a bicycle with a similar color.

Your help is appreciated.

I'm not aware of Baby Blue being a standard CCM colour during this period. However, during the interwar years it was possible to custom order colours. I'm not sure if custom paint continued to be an option after the war started but I imagine they continued to offer it as long as they had stock of the desired colour. One of the custom colour options during the interwar years appears to have been "Robin's Egg Blue", as it is listed as an available touch-up paint colour. "Llight Blue" was a standard colour in the 1950s on the Club Racer models. So, it is possible that you could have factory paint. Unfortunately, I don't have colour codes. Hopefully, other members have this information.

T-Mar, thanks for the info, I research from here.

That "baby blue" is actually called > New Azure Blue <  It is an official CCM colour. I have a pic of an original full 1/4 pint can from the 1930's.

That is pretty neat. Would you be able to send me a picture at mathibeault1970@gmail.com?
