1965 Mustang

I have a 1965 Mustang that is identical to the one in advertisement. It is in rough shape. All the chrome is damaged. The frame needs to be repainted.

Im going to powder coat the frame and fix it up with new offshore parts as the costs to totally restore it wouldn't be worth it.

If anyone needs parts let me know.

I' m sure there are guys on this site that can sell you the parts you need .

To bad about the chrome on those wheels  usually all that needs is some wd-40 and steel wool

but they look to far gone in the photos  .

The hubs are probably salvagable  .

What about the rest of the chrome  cranks seatpost sissy bar   handlebars  if that stuff is as bad as the wheels

you might be better off buying a whole bike from someone .

The sissy post would need to be rechromed. About the only items that i can reuse is the cranks, seat post, chainring and chain guard. They are cleaning up well enough.

The troxel seat looks okay but is coming apart at one of the seams and has rust staining where the sissybar bolts on. Its terribly uncomfortable as all the padding seems packed out. Okay for show but not practical.

I also have a question about the handlebars. They measure 30 inches wide which seems pretty wide. Were they actually that big from the factory or are these from a different bike?

Where are you located?

Victoria BC Canada

The handle bars sound correct. The 1965 and 1966 Mustangs had wider bars, as did a lot of other manufacturers banana seat bikes prior to the 70s.

Well, i need a replacement set of handlebars that are about 30" wide
