This ad is from Cycling magazine April 1894--I'm asumming they did make bikes!

Messrs. Henry Cutler and Wm. Smallwood, the proprietors, are natives of England and are well and popularly known in this city. Mr. Cutler is a mechanical expert who has eighteen years experience.
