Anybody recognize this?

Has a CCM chain ring, but there's nothing in the catalogues I have with that kind of frame. Is it really a CCM?

Looks like a Sunshine. I had one just like it . Someone had to have changed the chain ring.

It is a sunshine, don't know what year, but this is CCM's attemt at a fat tire bike...

Definitely looks like a Sunshine, but I know of no connection between the Waterloo company that made Sunshine bicycles and CCM.

The sunshine I looked at out here had a CCM chain ring.

I asked around and a few people  had them in their collections.

Last I looked there was one still for sale in North Vancouver  $350 and it needs a new fender.

Couldn't find any numbers on the seat post.

I have had a few Sunshines and from the info I have found on both them and CCM, there is no affiliation between them. The frames don't even look close to the same. CCM had their own fat tire bike which I have several of.  The Sunshines used American parts, not like CCM, using German and English parts, like Sturmey Archer and Union to name a few. If you are seeing Sunshines with CCM chainrings I would definitely say they have been swapped out. Just my 2 cents.

It is interesting to note, however, that in 1930 H.V. McKay, the Australian farm implement dealer that owned the Sunshine - Waterloo Co., was merged with Canada's Massey-Harris Co. That same year Tommy Russell, president of CCM, became president of Massey-Harris which means that for the next ten years, he probably sat on the board of both companies - Sunshine and CCM. Makes you wonder......
