Thanks Larry. If you are offering these for sale, where are you located? I'm interested in several items.

I am curious about the story behind the Dunlop saddle.  Were they made specifically for CCM.  Is there a date range during which they were manufactured? Leather or rubber?

Take care, Daryl

The Dunlop saddles were made in the U.K. for many years and were rubber. They came in many styles, including a racing saddle similar to a Brooks B17. CCM offered them as standard equipment on a few bicycles and sold them as replacements. They were popular in the U.K. and were used by the British Post Office. In my opinion, they are some of the most comfortable saddles ever made. I have several on different bicycles. It is getting very difficult to find these saddles in good shape now, with the older ones being close to 80 years old.

Thanks for the History on the Dunlop saddle!

Take care, Daryl

I know it's a long shot but is any of these items still for sale?

I realize this is a zombie thread but since it's been resurreted. I thought I'd post for the sake of posterity.  The Dunlop saddles go back to at least 1927, at which time they were marketed as "Drilastic". They were still available at least as late as 1955.

Yes T-Mar, these saddles were around for a long time. If I want a really comfotable saddle I still try and fit a Dunlop rubber saddle. I have one on my wife's mountain bike. It is hard to find them now in good, useable shape. They were also made in France.

On another note, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all of the great work you have done over the years finding answers to the various questions posed by members on the "Vintage CCM" forums. I think that you could write a doctoral thesis on CCM.
