CCM Bicycle with unique sprocket

Finally cleaned this bike up for my wife. Serial # is A59591, has 28" tires. I believe it is a 1961 model.

This bike has a unique CCM sprocket. I have seen this sprocket before.

Not sure when, how long or what model CCM used this sprocket for.

Any thoughts?

Mark:  That is a sprocket made in England for CCM.  There is a thread on the site from about 2-3 years ago

Wayne,

Thanks for the the info.

I recall the postings, I finally found it. John started the thread 6/7/2013 "Now That's Different".

I'm beginning to wonder if CCM had a successor to the CCM Cyco budget line in the very early 1960s? These sprockets typically turn up affixed to cottered crankarms and the bicycles look a lot like Ramblers with the exception of cottererd cranks in place of one piece cranks. Do they use a CCM hub or do they use another (less expensive) hub brand, like CCM did with the Cyco?

T-Mar,

This particular bicycle has  "Falcon   Made in Canada" stamped on the front hub.

The rear has "Perry   Made in England" on the brake arm.

Both front and rear rims are stamped "28 x 1 3/4 CCM"

I believe, both front and rear wheels to be original to this bicycle.

Mark, thxs for taking the time to identify the hubs. They certainly sound like they are OEM. While I don't have have any catalogues from the very early 1960s we know that the Perry was CCM's catalogued import hub during the mid-1960s, taking over from the Bayliss-Wiley used in the late 1950s. The non-CCM rear hub and cottered crankset would be consistent with a possible budget line successor to the Cyco brand. Ofr course, the other possibility is that it might be an early Rambler and that they used lesser grade equipment than the later versions that we are used to seeing. Do any members have any 1960-1962 literature?
