I have one CCM encore dark blue and coaster brake and its a 1979. I don't know when they started...Yours is probably a 1968 if you have the right serial number.
The Encore was catalogued from 1973-1977 inclusive. Previously, I had been unsure about 1978, but John provided a 1978 price list showing that it had been dropped by then. An A-code serial number indicates a 1976-1977 model.
