CCM Flyer Flip-Flop Track Hub...

I recently bought a rear hub for my 1939 CCM "Road Racer".  The hub is a match for the front hub, both being in similar condition and manufactured by Bayliss-Wiley Co Ltd.

When I bought the hub, I thought it to be suitable for a track cog on one side and a single cog freewheel on the other.  Sadly, for me anyway, the hub is designed for fixed cogs on each side, with both sides machined for lock rings.

If anyone has the proper hub I seek, I would be happy to make the swap.  I will also consider selling the hub since it is not what I want, or need, and I have no intention of riding the bicycle as a Fixed Gear unit - just too scary for an old fart, like me.

Hi Randy! How much would you like to get for the hub?

Rob

I just bought it through Ebay and paid $125.00 USD plus $12.00 shipping.  That is what I will sell the hub for but I would prefer to do a trade so that I can restore my own bike.

Hope that is a help.

Are you sure an original Flyer would have a freewheel on the one side. Any old track bikes that I have seen have been fixed on both sides with different gearing so they can just flip it for shorter or longer tracks. I do have a brand new flip flop hub that freewheels on the one side I was gonna put in one of my CCM's but it is new not old.

I agree, a Flyer would have different fixed cogs, one on each side, but I do not have a Flyer.

I have the "Road Racer" model and, according to an advertisement I have for the 1939 CCM "Road Racer", the rear hub would be fitted with a track cog on one side (16t), and a freewheel (18t) on the other side.

When I bought the hub I have now, I did not notice that it was for dual fixed.  Stupid me.

If the new hub you have is for sale or trade, I might be interested.  Not sure what all I have to offer but I am willing to give it a shot.

At the moment, I also have a set of high flange alloy flip flop hubs, that I will run on the bicycle, rather than keep it off of the road.

Can you email me some pics of your hub? hotrodrob1932@gmail.com   and I will send you some pics of what I have.
