CCM Legacy Tandem Cruiser Bike

Hello everyone!

By way of introduction, my name is Douglas Hulse. Greetings from Calgary, Alberta.

Pictured is my CCM Legacy Tandem Cruiser bike. Frankly, I know very little about it, although I am hopeful someone in the group does. Any insights/information regarding the bike would be very much appreciated. I, too, would be interetsed in obtaining any original sales & service literature pertaing to the bike pictured.

I have only seen 2 of these bikes, both coincidentally in British Columbia. Mine was purchsed new in Chilliwack and I saw the other one in Langley.

Thank you in advance for considering my inquiry. I very much look forward to learning more about my bike.

CCM's Legacy models were intended to celebrate the brand's 2nd century. They first appeared in 1999 and were marketed through at least the early 2000s. The original CCM company had gone bankrupt in early 1983 and the subject tandem would have been manufactured during the period when a Quebec based company called Procycle owned  the brand rights for CCM bicycles. The vast majority of CCM bicycles during this period were manufactured in their Saint-Georges factory, though there was some sub-contracted, foreign, frame manufacture.

The odd thing about the bicycle is the styling. It is like nothing that the original CCM company ever manufactured. The styling is more representative of American models, such as the post-war Schwinn Black Phantom. The original MSRP for the CCM Legacy tandem was $900 CDN in 2002. The pricing amy have varied a bit, depending on the exact year and I wouldn't be surpised if they were heavily discounted over time. Tandems can be be a notoriously hard sell.

Anything after 1983 isn't considered a vintage CCM bicycle.

In my opinion, once a company is out of business, so should the name be gone.

Unfortunately, the CCM name is still in use.

Even a 1960s CCM tandem is hard to get 300.00 for it in great original condition.

Your best bet for finding any sales info or anything related to this bike, is to try and find

a Canadian Tire catalgue from 1999.  Thats where it would have came from.

Not a bike shop.

Really great to hear you like your tandem.

Enjoy the ride !

Thank you both for your insights.

Mine was purchased at a bike shop in Chiliwack, British Columbia. I have had initial contact with the shop, am waiting for more information..

Thanks agai, both of you.

Gratefully, Douglas
