Dating a Marauder

Hi everyone! I've been having problems dating my CCM Marauder, I've heard that the first letter in the serial represent the year in a alphabetical way, ex. A:69 B:70 C:71 and so on but apparently, none of the 69 are A models.

How can we date these Marauders?  The serial number on mine is D573801.

There shouldn't be any Marauders with A-codes, as the Marauder made it's debut for the 1970 model year. Consequently, the earliest Marauders should be B-codes.  I've got seven B-code Marauders in my database. Yours should be a 1972 model.
