Delivery Bike

I just picked up this bike. Serial number starts with X which indicates that its a 1935 but i thought i read somewhere that CCM chainrings werent inuae until sometime after that. The rear hub is a perry. Its been repainted unfortunately and the seat and handgrips are obvious replacements.

Nice find! I believe 1935 was the first year for that chainring.

Thanks, any idea of value?

What are you doing with this bike?

So far it has just been collecting dust. The right crank is broken and the replacement just arrived today.

I have a set of chrome wheels from a 38 balloon that have a nexus 3 speed and a sachs drum brake that are going to get some white walls then be installed. Throw on a layback seatpost and higher handlebars because the frame is a bit small for me then ride it.

The original wheels, bars and seatpost will go into storage.

I'll ask you if it's for sale although it's doesn't sound like it is. You can email me at s_zagz@yahoo.ca if you'd like to discuss further. Thanks.

That is a very nice example, looks to be in very good shape, I think it's pretty valuable.

Delivery bike were black, so I don't think a black repaint would hurt the value to much.

You have the original basket with the lamp clamp, lucky. My '36 original basket had a broken lamp clamp.

Does your chainring, rear sprocket and chain have the heavy duty specs (1/2"X3/16")?

The hub should probably be New Hercules. The grips and seat are a easy fix.

Will you restore it? I can supply you a pattern to cut out a panel for the bike.

Thanks for your reply

A pattern to cut out a panel would be great.

The bike didnt come with original hubs .im not sure about the wheels as they appear to be repainted same as the rest of the bike.

The front fender is painted chrome, the rear looks like it might be original. The chainring is 1/8.

In short besides the triplex cranks and handlebars, I would need everything else to restore the bike to original form.

As it sits it has new whitewalls, a new shimano three speed laced to chrome WO wheels from my 38 balloon. I put the ccm branded pedals and recovered seat from my 1939 twin bar which has turned into my daily commuter so the delivery has a few parts from the correct era at least
