EARLY MISCELLANEOUS PAPER, PRINTS & EPHEMERA

  1. 1. Newspaper:  NEW YORK MIRROR,  Sat. Nov. 1st 1834, 4 pages, 10-1/2" x 13-1/2".  Article on "NEW INVENTION - THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE in Manheim Germany.   Goes on to mention Baron Drais exhibiting his machine called Draisienne Velocipede.  Truly an early and rare cycling collectible. $75 
  2. Print: On full page of the journal PUNCH from May 15, 1869.  Lady Velocipedist riding with a top hat.  Man chasing behind her with a dog running aside the lady.  Page is 7-1/4" x 10-1/2".  Print is 4-1/2" x 7-1/4".  $40. 
  3. Ephemera.  Die cut.  Lady on a Velocipede.  Coloured Chromolithograph.  9-1/2" x 6" wide.  Circa 1870.  Quite rare.  $100.  
  4. Print.  Harper's Magazine from 1869.  "SCENE IN A VELOCIPEDE RIDING SCHOOL, NEW YORK CITY".  About 13 velocipedes in the one room school.  9" x 6-1/2".  $45.00
  5. Print: Punch magazine.  July 2, 1870 -  complete pg. 3. Frog riding on a Velocipede.  Anamorphic.  A wonderful engraving that would make a great logo.  Print is about 2-1/2" x 3".  $30.

Print.  Full page engraving.  Harper's Weekly from May 1, 1869.  Titled THE VELOCIPEDE MANIA - WHAT IT MAY COME TO.  Street scene with about 9 velocipedes.  Includes a Velocipede Riding School.  Light humor.  Page has chipping to the outside edges.  Internal print is full with a size of 13-1/2" x 9".   $45.
  7. Print.  From a journal.  Two youth riding on wooden framed velocipede trikes.  Circa 1875.  About 6-1/2" x 8-1/2".  
  8. 6 various Catalog covers or adverting pages with early Pope Columbia engravings.  Mainly catalog covers and the like.  From 4" x 6-1/2" to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2".  Lot is $90.  Excellent value.  
  9. Front page (and reverse) of  THE BICYCLE.  This THE CANADIAN WHEELMENS ASSOCIATION  journal Vol. 1, No. 4 dated Jan. 1883.  Issued in Hamilton, ON.   First article is on THE SPIRIT OF THE WHEEL ~ A CHRISTMAS FANTASY.  Reverse has information about the Montreal Bicycle  Club.  Will frame nicely.  Size is 8-3/4" x 11-1/2".  Very good condition with some distress to the bottom edge.   Really rare.  $40. 
  10. Print from (the original 19th c.) LIFE magazine titled THE CAVALRY OF THE FUTURE.  High Wheel military vignettes.  Circa 1887.  About 10-1/2" x 8-1/4".  $25.
  11. Print from Harper's Weekly dated Sept. 29, 1883.  Engraving. THE BICYCLE TOURNAMENT AT SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS ~ ON THE HOMESTRETCH ~ TEN MILE RACE with a back picture of Hendee winning the 20 mile race.  About 10-1/2" x 8". $35 
  12. Print from Harper's Weekly dated Sept. 12, 1885.  HAND COLOURED Engraving. 6 High Wheel racers and two racers on Stars.  About 11" x 7-3/4".  - $45. 
  13. Print from Harper's Weekly circa 1875.  HAND COLOURED Engraving.  A RACE ON THE ICE -- BICYCLES v. SKATES.  About 10-3/4" x 7-3/4".  - $50.
