Eaton Glider

Hi all. I'm looking for some help and knowledge on a pair of Eaton Gliders. I primarily collect CCM, with the odd Sunshine or  Road King here and there. These bikes are are new to me and are (beautifully) badged Eatonia with the following serial numbers:

24684

and ND4899

Any help greatly appreciated, in particular dating them. Thanks in advance. Steve

The 2nd serial number indicates that the bicycle was manufactured by Raleigh's Nottingham factory during March of a year ending in '4'. Reportedly, this format was introduced in 1973, so it is most likely a 1974 model. Sorry, I can't help with the other serial number.

Thanks for the reply T-Mar. I'll try to post photos of the bikes. I'm really not certain, but based on characteristics like pedals, saddles, and the stem bolt  (on one in particular) I believe they are both significantly earlier than that.

Inserting photos is such a PAIN!

sAfter some discussions with Brian, I have to agree that both bikes are circa mid 1930's. I have included a page from Eaton's 1936 spring summer catalogue that shows a very similar bike. The one with the racing bar has some nuances like the snowflake chain ring, double braced front fender, and a very cool stem. My list of projects is already large enough, if anyone is interested in one or both bikes, please send me an e-mail.

Thanks,
Steve
