Flyte Byke Porn (NSFBW)

Not Safe For Bike Weirdos...

Spent a good ten hours (okay, maybe 12) doing a cleanup and service of this lovely lady. As requested I took a ton of pics for you all. if you want any different angles, just lemme know.

Few things I noticed.

  • Serial number is Z 28202
  • This would put to rest that they never made a 1936 with chrome forks. This is now my second bike with the same color scheme and chrome forks.
  • This reflector is a P & H, not Manton and Smith
  • These are Dunlop rims and one had a Fort tiire. The ARE NOT 700c. Tried my 700c from my Endrick rims and no way will they fit. Local bike shop guy is well versed in vingage. We went through tires until we found a 32-630 that slipped on nicely. I think the 635 would fit but none in stock.

Posting pics on here is so tedious (worked for an hour resizing and what have you and no pics showed) so I created a post in the cabe (took ten minutes max) so you could all see some pics of this gal.

Nice clean up job, Wayne

Beautiful Wayne gotta love it. Love them in original form.

nice

is the triplex decal on the transverse tube?

can you post a picture of the stamp on the rims?

The triplex hanger decal is on the tube that goes from the bottom bracket to the head tube. Ill get a pic of the rim stamp tonight.

wayne

I plan on riding this gal a lot because she just rides so well. So I switched out the Lycett seat (it is completely roached and prolly not original) for the Jones seat and I put a straight seat post instead of the stock L post. This puts my fore/aft seat position in perfect position for maximum pedaling efficiency. Then I subbed the stock handlebars for the swept back half moons because it puts me in a very comfortable position where I don't have to reach for the bars and I am not leaning heavily on the bars. Much easier on the wrists plus not so much stress on the forks.

I also just like the look of the seat sitting over the seat stay and of the swept back bars. What do you guys think?

I would be interested in purchasing the prolly non-original Lycetts seat

That flyte is looking pretty nice. I had one those L shaped seat posts on my '38 but the previous owner had turned it around so the seat was sitting way back. The bike looked really good that way. Unfortunately I cant use the post because i cant get the seat high enough no matter what i do so i ended up taking it out and using a straight post.

Btw, if you didnt want those coke-bottle grips anymore i would take them off your hands

Yes, the L post doesnt put me in the right position, a straight post lines me up spot on. As for the Coke bottle grips, there was only one.

thanks, I LOVE how it looks and rides!

Wayne

Locomotion, im gonna put that Lycett seat on my other Flyte and display it at a friend's bike shop.

Wayne

I think the seat is probably the original seat for your bike.

that seat is in the 1936 CCM catalogue

it's original equipment for my 1936 CCM delivery, and probably on your Flyte since new

Thanks so much for the info. Good to know it may be original. Unfortunately it is not very comfy to ride. It collapses when you sit on it and you end up sitting on the metal parts of the seat. Since I'm going to ride this one I will put a more comfy seat and use the other one for display.

Thanks again for the info.

Wayne

So where did that metal '' vancouver '' plate come from? I thought we only used water slide decals in Vancouver.

It was on the bike when I got it.
