Flyte Fenders?

I know this is unlikely, but does anyone have fenders for a Flyte that could be for sale? I'm looking to buy a pair or even just front or rear. If none are available I will have to adapt a pair of regular ccm fenders.

Hi Brian,

I have been faced with the same problem on several occasions. Over the years, I have had only one original Flyte fender. I have had to make them from regular fenders. The front Flyte fender can be cut from a regular rear fender. The rear Flyte fender can be made from aregular rear fender and an extension made from a front fender. To do this properly, I have a fellow who does TIG welding for me (he has 40+ years of experience as a weder). He makes the cuts in the various sections and welds them together. He also welds up the unneeded holes. He then grinds/files his work so that the result is smooth enough that a bit of extra primer will take care of any surface irregularities.

Looks like you are the one who bought the Flyter from the guy in Kemptville.

Yes ?

Cool

Yes. He had multiple offers above asking. It's rough and needs everything, but he enjoyed riding it for 25 years. I will take oven cleaner to it and see what's under the green paint.

John, thanks for the tips. I'm intrigued by using a rear fender for the front. Is that for extra length needed? What about the indented area (I don't know what to call it) needed to fit between the fork blades?

Although the original Flyte front fender did have the appropriate indentation, I have always been able to make a regular fender fit just by slightly squeezing it. Yes, I have used a regular rear fender to make the Flyte front fender because of the extra length required.

Thanks again. What is the best way to cut the fender leaving a straight edge without damaging it?
