Heavy Duty 26" Wheelset

Here is another find from this summer. I got these 26" heavy duty CCM wheels in black with white pinstripes from a friend. They have double butted spokes, twice as thick as regular spokes. There are a few that were replaced with thinner ones. Anyone know where I can get some replacement thick ones. I don't know the guage but thinking maybe 80 guage spokes. I have a Whizzer wheel that has thicker spokes maybe 120 guage. These wheels must have been from a service bike or a delivery bike. They came with no tires, I had a single Dunlop Cushion Ride sitting around. Last weekend I found what looks to be an almost new or a takeoff Dunlop Cushion Ride. They were the perfect tire for these wheels. Not sure what I will do with the wheels yet. The cog on the hub is twice as thick as any normal CCM cog. My chains don't work with it. The hub is a script Hercules, 1926? model hub. Anyone know if there is a chain that is wider and a thicker chainring for CCM bikes.

I have a delivery bike with a set of these wheels in bad shape. The spokes are 12g on the ends and 14g in the middle.Tire size is 571.I would like to replace spokes because they have so much rust. Hubs seem quite smooth. I will repaint rims with pinstripes.

what length of spoke and how many of each and how many nipples required . i have a few of this kind of spoke new old stock. the chain for overhead garage doors may be the same hope this helps william rudolph

The CCM delivery bicycles that I've seen have used 1/2 x 3/16'" chains, cogs and chainwheels. Thi size is still fairly common, as it is popular with the BMX crowd. The most popular chain in this size is probably the KMC K415H. Most bicycle shops should be able to order it for you, if they do not already stock it. Alternately, they can be obtained through various online sources, including Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/KMC-Chain-Single-Speed-Silver/dp/B000C1YPB2

Alternately, you could replace the current cog with a 1/8" cog.

12-14 gauge spokes i think  a back wheel needs 10 1/2" ccm hercules i have 36 used double gauge spokes 10 7/16 which i think will work because the nipples are quite long  clean up your old nipples  if you can not find new old stock just pay shipping from nova scotia hope this helps  william rudolph   p.s. also have new rear 3/16 rear sprocket $5.00
