Hi from USA Golf Capital, Pinehurst, NC

I have a 3-Speed Club Racer that I purchased from Eaton's in Ottawa, in the 1950-52 era.

I have some pictures that I can post if any one is interested.

Question.......should I consider restoring it, or is it worth the cost and effort?

Any Input would be appreciated............thanks

it's always worth the effort, but maybe not the cost

I have a 1950 Club Racer as well. Got it from a buddy in Ottawa last summer. It has a 3 speed derailer which I had never seen before. I plan on restoring it at some point but it's definately on the backburner. As far as yours being worth the cost and effort, I would say, it depends how much it means to you. There are tons of guys restoring bikes that end up having way more in them than they are worth. If money is no object, I say go for it. I mean, how many Club Racers are out there, I would say not many. Good luck with the resto!

If I had a bike I had gotten new in the early fifties, I'd definitely want to bring it back to life. Hopefully that would mean some TLC and a good clean-up, but if it meant a full resto, I'd go for it just because the sentimental value of the bike would mean more to me than the market value. But maybe that's just me.

Many thanks for your replys......

I will now seriously consider refurbishing the bike.

I will check with a friend that does Corvette restoration in our area,

on matching paint color and rechroming parts, etc.

When I bought it, it was the first 3-speed derailer that Ottawa Eaton's sports department

had every ordered, so it took weeeks to receive.

***Another question.......

can anyone interpret the serial number located under the area of the seat ?

Serial No.55217

                     C

Thanks.......

1951, just like mine.

I would really like to see pictures of the Club Racer, but I have no idea how to view them if they have been presented.
