Sport model for 1926 if it has H at the beginning of the serial number

It does have an H at the  beginning of the serial mumber

Thank you

Nice bike! All it needs is fenders.
You posted in the "What's it worth" forum. The Massey badge complicates things. If it were a CCM Cleveland I'd say 500. As a Massey, who knows!

If it is for sale I would be interested in buying it.

Q)  I would have thought a bicycle from 1926 would have inch pitch chain set,

When did they begin making 1/2" for chains and rings ?

I would think you could get 1/2 inch pitch chain around 1912 or maybe 15  around that time.  1/2 inch pitch is shown in 1918 catalogues.

In the 1915 catalogue, the Hercules one-piece crank is shown with a 1/2" pitch sprocket, as is the three-piece crank. The Hercules coaster brake hub is also shown with a 1/2" pitch sprocket. Chains were offered 1/2" pitch in 1/8" and 3/16" widths, and 1" pitch. The switch to 1/2" pitch probably occured in the early teens, as Dave suggests.
