Kay was the brand of Alexander Kay, who had started out in the Toronto bicycle industry with Comet in 1893, He moved to the Tornto Bicycle Exhange in 1895, where he was employed as machinst. .Circa 1896-1897, he entered into a short lived partnership with Thomas L. Southam. By 1898 he had set up his own shop, manufacturing the OK brand of bicycles, Kay also manufactured tires and offered a complete line of services including repair, storage, plating and painting. By 1914 a line of specialty Kay brand bicycles had been added, along with a King brand. Operations continued until at least 1922.
