Looking For Info

Anyone recognize this bike.? Gentleman looking for info. I asked if there was a serial number, but he didn't say.

Unfortunately, it's hard to tell much from the single, poor resolution, non-drive side photo. The rims are obviously wood, which were last offered as standard equipment circa 1927, yet it has the logo chainring which didn't  debut until 1936. The rear hub has a brake arm, which would indicate no earlier than 1926. Of course, some or all of these parts may not be original.

Looking at the frame itself, it has  a straight tube tube. With the expception of the racing models, this was last used sometimes in the mid-1920s. It was revived in the 1950s for the Sports models but I believe these used the forward facing dropouts on the rear wheel, as opposed to the rear facing fork ends, which this frame appears to have. Consequently, pending further information and/or better pictures, I'm leaning rowards a mid-1920s or earlier Standard model. However, if the owner would supply the serial number from the seat lug, it would almost surely end all the mystery.

Thanks Tom. I'll see once again if I can track down a serial number.
