McKenty Auction

Can we see a link to this auction page please? I tried the Miller site and couldn't find this particular auction items listing.

Brian:

It's not listed yet. I imagine it will go up after their auction this weekend.

I emailed Miller and Miller. They replied stating the listing will be up on their website on Friday.

A few people have asked why I'm selling my CCM collection.

The answer, simply put, is that I have no place to keep it.

Over the years, I've stored it in a shed/barn at the back of our property, but there's no insulation etc and the heat of summer and cold of winter has begun to affect it.

I felt it was time to move everything along to places where it can be kept and looked after properly.

I congratulate John on a very successful auction. Everything was great: the location, the facility, and even complimentary coffee and baked goods. The prices were, I thought, very high, which was bad for me but great for John. I told my wife that if I were to pass away unexpectedly, rather than placing my bikes on the curb as she likes to say, she should call up Miller & Miller and they will come and cart away old bikes and cars that are jamming my garage.

Another collector and I are wondering if the majority of items were sold to bidders in the seats, or to online or phone bidders. Does anyone know, or have a sense of how things went from observing in the audience? I left around 11am so I'm not sure.

I was not able to attend because of work. I had a big job during the day and smaller one that evening.

I sent someone to bid on my behalf and had them call me when certain lots were up.

I won quite a few lots. All the ones I wanted I got and paid what it took to get them.

There were more I could of got but let others win some.

I really wish I was able to attend in person because now seeing what some of the stuff sold for, I would have bought more.

Anyway, I have had to miss the last couple Jamie’s bike swap meets because of rain changing the week-ends, so this made up for that.

Duomatic, did you buy the catalogues from 1916 and the 1920s? (To whoever bought them), I am willing to pay money for scanned digital copies of one or more or all of those catalogues if you are interested in making them available for sale. You could recoup some (or all if you sell more than one copy) of your initial investment and still keep the catalogues! I could use the information to help with my restorations. Contact me at brianrreynolds@yahoo.com (extra r in middle).

No, I didn’t buy any catalogues.  I think they should be scanned and posted here.

Too bad John never did that before selling them. I would buy copies too.
