MORE WATER SLIDE DECALS. 1921 TO 1925 BEAVER TOP HEAD BADGE AND POST 1945 SEAT TUBE DECAL

After more than 2 years researching the "Beaver" head badge decal, which included countless hours consulting with prominent CCM collectors, delving through available printed matter and looking at countless photographs of the only two head badges available to me and finally satisfying the artist and myself that the finished product is as close to original as can be, I gave the go ahead to print that what is attached.

I first came upon this head badge on a 1921 Motorbike a couple of years ago when visiting Don Farmer in Montreal.  I was awestruck !! It was beautiful!!  It was grungy, faded and some details had been obliterated..but, I could see it in its past glory.  It was this initial exposure that started me on my quest to have this and other pre war water slide decals reproduced.   The other decals were easier to reproduce because there was more info available.  In this case, I only had pix of Dons bike to work with and these were not of a good enough quality for my graphic artist friend, Gus Salmon, Winter Springs, FL. to make a rendering.

2014 - ENTER Jamie MAC GREGOR, who has an early CCM Joycycle tricycle, with the very same head badge (The Joycycle was introduced in 1922).  The badge was in excellent condition and detailed.  He and Art Sanford provided me with in excess of 50 photos and complied with my never ending requests for more detail.  Indeed,  I even went to the Brantford show and took many more photos.

Without going into the ups and downs of producing these accurate decals, I could not have done it without the consumate professional graphic art skills and advice of Gus Salmon and the kind support from all the fellow CCM collectors with whom I have been in contact, Ron Miller, Dave Brown, Ken Martin, Don Farmer, Jamie and Art in Brantford, John McKenty and the many others whom I have not mentioned by name.

During the course of this project, utilizing available materiel, I have thus far determined that this badge was an option from 1921 up to and including 1925.  There may be other documentation which I have not uncovered that will support its use before 1921; but the final reference to it as a head badge option appears in the 1925 catalogue head badge option text

I have been privy to a number of discussions about the anomoly of the head tubes of some 1921-1925 bicycles having no evidence of ever having had holes drilled to affix the metal head badge choices.  After years of abuse, wear, tear, re- paints, these decals have deteriorated.

I'll cut this diatribe on a personal project short by stating I have had a short run of the beaver decals done up and they will sell for $28.00 via Paypal. The post war seat tube decals are $15 ea or 2 for $25.

The head badge decal is 6 cm high, 3 cm wide.  The seat tube one is about 3 cm high

As with all my  water slide decals, some trimming is required; I will include an instruction sheet and a link to a video on how to properly apply the decals.

 Very nicely done Wayne.

Wayne your attention to detail is appreciated by me and I hope by all other CCM types.  Great job you are doing.

Ron

Well done!

They look terrific!

Marvelous work.

I read somewhere that Flytes were made in New Zealand under licence so what would their decals look like does anyone know? This frame I have seems to be 37 and had whitey cream paint and black on one tube. Looks like it had been semi paint stripped a long time ago and laid under a house for decades. Amongst the' flickr' galleries I see a cream one with black tubes[seatpost and front] looks very similar and luscious too.
