My 1930 Rambler serial # P22926

Took these pics today of the 1930 Rambler that I picked up last summer  It is as I found it, just with a good clean up. I replaced the seat with one identical to the Brooks that was on it. Has anyone seen this head badge before.    I haven't determined yet what the original colour was but am leaving as is for now.  Mechanically it was excellent when I got it.

Hi, I've never seen this badge before!

do you have other pictures of the bicycle? I'd really like to see it all. ;)

Here are some other pics I just took

it seems like the first picture didn't show last time I checked this thread... anyway, thanks for the pictures! ;)

Intriguing bike. What is your guess on the original paint colours? Was the frame blue?

Hi Ian  Not sure of original colour, but possibly blue

what is the Rambler brand?

is it made by CCM or were they a competitor to CCM?

where were they made?

and is the serial number on a Rambler using the same logic as the CCM serial chart?

Rambler is a model of the CCM line and as far as know the serial number charts are the same

up to what year was the Rambler available in the line?

Being fairly new to cycle collecting I'm not sure. Perhaps someone on here more knowledgable can answer that

I've never seen a Rambler with that head badge or that old. A P-code should make it 1930 but I'm wondering if it actually a 1931 model, as the 1931 catalogue mentions the straight parallel downtube design being "new". Anybody out there with a 1930 catalogue to confirm this?

It's definitely a CCM product. Besides the CCM serial number coding, you can just make out Weston Ontario where the CCM factory was located.

Ramblers were typically a lower tier line. During this era I'm used to seeing Crescents and Crown being catalogued as the economy lines.  I don't recall seeing Ramblers catalogued until circa 1939 when they displaced the Crown line, however a lot of non-catalogued CCM brands have surfaced over the years. This particular bicycle would fall into a lower price range as it does not have the Triplex crankset and Gibson pedals that were featured on  CCM's prestige brands during this era. So, it does fit the general profile of Ramblers, even if it is earlier that what I've seen.
