My Bikes and serial numbers.

I have the identical bike! Well it was identical!!!  to the bike in Forum topic - age my bike. My serial number is  G153189. I was told it was a 1974...? CCM serial numbers are confusing me! I'd just like to know what decade it's from??? I bought it thinking it was from the year my girlfriend was born. I also have a CCM Encore serial E87604, was told it was 68 or 69 !?!  My CCM tandem serial D24570, belive it to be a 1971? Any info would be greatful.  The serial number to my recent find is 4D0421 , 1940?  womens loop frame.  The loop frame has the 2 piece diamond head badge. The tandem has a sticker. The Encore has the gold badge with CCM between two curved branches. The purple 1974? has the red CCM badge with silver lettering.

I have a CCM encore same color but about 1978 or 1979 not like yours....but my serial number for this bike begins by B...

Based on current thinking the G-code should be 1966. That would be in the ballpark, given the headbadge style. It's definiterly not a 1974 by which time they had gone to the rectangular sticker.

The E-code on the Encore would indicate 1973, Again, it's definitely not 1968 or 1969 as the model did not come out until 1973. However, the decal and headbadge style are not consistent with 1973. It  is representative of  the version that came out in 1978. Any chance that the E is a partially stamped B?

The tandem  D-code would represent 1964 or 1972. I'm not aware of CCM having a tandem in 1964 but I don;t have documentation for that period. The decal style, headbadge and frame design are, in general, representative of 1972, however there are a few notable deviations. In the 1972 catalog it is blue, there is no lettering on the chain guard and fenders are chrome. In the 1973 catalogue it does have purple paint with matching fenders and a lettered chain guard like yours, however the decal and headbadge style changed and the fork reflectors were eliminated. Your tandem has a cross between 1972 and 1973 traits, however I stongly believe it is the former. It's not unusual for companies to use prototypes for the catalogue layout and things often change by the time they get into production. It could also have been a running production change during the model year.

Based on the serial number, the ladies' loop frame should be 1940, as you state. While I don't have a 1940 catalogue,  I do have a 1941. The only catalogued loop frame models were the Ladies' Balloon Tire,  Girls' Juvenile and Rambler Ladies' Roadster. If it doesn't have a Rambler head badge, it should be one of the first two and they can be distinguished by wheel sizes of 28" and 26" respectively.
