MYSTERY BIKE
Hello all! So i ws driving today doing some errands when i came across a used bike shop. Whatcaught my eye were the 2 ccm right out front one a 1935 mens roadster all oringinal except no badge and different back fender. The other was a 1941 roadster all pieced together with different parts, but cheap. Guy wants a;ittle to much for the 35 then i thinks its worth. I went inside and found this old wooden rim race bike, very lightweight frame but super thick tubing, head badge is a W made out of copper. The front hub says ccm, and is 1/4. the back doesnt say anything is really different from what ive seen. The bottom bracket has 2 bolt clamps on the underside and appears to be a 3 piece. Back rims is broken/ de laminated at the finger joints but comes with an extra front to use as a replacment. The striping is tape on that someone did at some point. Seat looks to be a copper rivit wrights. Any info would be appreciated.
I sent the pics to john as they would not upload, hopfully he can work his magic.
I looked at that bike to. The fork, stem, bar, seat and post have been replaced. The frame, crank and fixed rear hub look period correct.

This bicycle looks as if it was just painted and put together with a mixture of parts, some old and some newer. If you look carefully at the fork, it appears to have English threads with a fairly modern part of a Raleigh headset at the top. It does not appear to have a locknut or washer on the headset. The fork also looks as if it may have been made for an English 28 X 1 1/2 tire (ISO 635 versus ISO 622). The fork may have come from a large frame modern English bicycle, or a loop frame bicycle, but has a header tube that is too short. The wheels are early and appear to be spoked 36/36. The crank is very early, and could be from an early (pre 1910 CCM). It has an inch pitch chain. The handlebars, handlebar stem and seat stem are early and common to any one of a number of makes.
