Name is Anton , and my main interests
Hi
Retired now but always been interested in 'Classic' vehicles of all types , in the main WW2 Military Vehicles of all types inc. cycles. Avid reader of political/military history of last century.
I have a query , somebody may be able to answer ?
Toolmaker Welland Vale Manufacturing in 1899 amalgamated with three other major manufacturers to form , The Canadian Cycle & Motor Co. Ltd (CCM). I know little of the subsequent history other than eventually CCM evolved into Canadian General Tower Ltd (CGT).
Did - Max. Aitken 1st Lord Beaverbrook ever have anything to do with the above combines ?
Beaverbrook the Canadian 'merger' Mr Fixit , was greatly into technical , cooking pots to typewriters to motor cars (at one stage he owned Rolls Royce, not to his taste - he liked mass production).
Thanks in advance.
CCM ceased manufacturing operations in 1983, with the assets being acquired by Procycle, who retained the rights for the bicycle line but sold the hockey equipment rights to Sports Maska. So, unless CGT is associated with Procycle, Sports Maska or the Levy, Seaway or Cummings companies that owned CCM from 1962 -1983, I'm not aware of any ties.
I'm also not aware of any direct invlovement by Aitken.
If you want to know more about the history of CCM (up until 1983) I suggest you purchase the webmaster's book, available on this site.
