National Headbadge, CCM bike

Hi All, I am new to the forum and new to CCM bikes, was a Schwinn man up unitl a month ago, these bikes seem fun and are plentiful in my neck of the woods. OK, I have what looks to be a CCM rambler or imperial, however it says National on the headbadge, what gives?

Hey you guys, what the heck is a Flying Ace?

Is that another CCM made bike?

No,, made bye Colson and by thge way, not made by CCM ;)

How about the National, any ideas :)

It's probably a house-brand for a hardware or department store. I have a CCM built Empire, a Freimart(Freiman's Dep't Store) and Supercycle(Canadian Tire Corp).

Can you put up a pic of the National headbadge?  National was a name selected for the American conglomerate that was about to take over the Canadian market in the late 1800s, a move that was derailed by a number of Canadian businessmen when they formed CCM.  The National company was bought up in early 1900sand bikes were made by CCM with the National headbadge.  Page 18 of the Dodge bros book details the process http://books.google. ca/books?id=9xviNs2HTIwC&pg=PA114&lpg=PA114&dq=ccm+national+bicycle&source=bl&ots=1lIBX6eCy4&sig=ss9ymQhkhC1pcr15zDGHlyUc3Ao&hl=en&ei=c7MjTZziL8jKnAfQwPm-Dg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9&ved=0CE8Q6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=ccm%20national%20bicycle&f=false  and their is also reference to this acquisition in the "Ride to Modernity"

Here are a few pix of my National

OOPs, I included the extract from the Ride to Modernity, Pg 114 or thereabouts; it basicall states the same as in the Dodge bros book.
