New Ride

I just got home from picking up this little jem. I've searched all of the usual spots for a serial # (lower seat post, bottom bracket etc) but have yet to turn anything up to confirm the year of manufacture. I bought it from a guy who owned it since it was new in the '60s and he obviously took pretty good care of it. There is minimal surface rust which should clean off no problem and there is a tear in the seat but besides that it appears to be 100% complete. My favorite part is the duomatic hub. I just got my first one earlier this year and I love how they work. If anyone has any insight where to find the Serial # or year based on color and style it would be mutch appreciated.

I found the # stamped near the rear left side drop out. It's J307539, which should make it a '67.

Did the seller tell you a guy in Winnipeg was trying to purchase it?  :-)

Good score! You win!   LOL

I would have guessed 1966, based on the chainguard and head tube decal.

Hmmm.

If you ever consider selling, let me know.

The duomatic hubs are sooooo sweet.  Takes a bit to get used to, but once you do they're a lot of fun to ride.  Enjoy the bike.

The previous owner mentioned that there were several parties that were interested in the bike but he didn't want the hassle of boxing and shipping it across the country. Hopefully I didn't mow anybodies lawn here. He actually responded to my ad for "vintage bicycles wanted" and he happened to live in my town.

I put a couple of hours into cleaning the chrome last night and it came up really nice.

So, what would your thoughts be on the seat shape of this bike? Is that the original shaped pan? also, the front tire is a fairly standard 20x1 3/8 while the rear is a 20x2x1 3/4 giving the bike quite a reverse rake. I wasn't sure if these sizes were stock or not as it does need new rubber.

As far as selling this bike goes. I might try to enjoy it for a while but I do have a pretty big collection that is currently getting thinned a bit.

Here it is on the stand packed into my shop with all of my other crud.

Hi Polara Pat, email me at

ccmbikes at yahoo dot ca   (crunch the "at" and the "dot")

I'd like to hear more about your collection. I have a few too.

A few too many . LOL

Now I know why you have this nickname Pola ra :D... you have a polara dodge.

Haha Denis,

That name started years ago when I used to have C-body Polara wagons and the name just sorta stuck. You're one of the first ones to put that together. Most people just assume that it's Polaris and super into sledding, which I'm not. Just hot rod Mopar wagons.

okay, but why don't let this car in his originality? ;)

That is a nice duomatic! I was a person aquiring about it but could tell shipping was a hassile to him. I understand though. I would rather have it picked up myself. I am actually glad though because I am the new owner of the 67 Charger that was listed on here. I have the front tire so I can complete it. I will have to put the 67 charger I have up for sale. its hard to find the 60's mustang's  in that condition now a days. I wish I had one!

Hello Polara Pat

Reading  one of your earlier postings I wondered if there was a Mopar in the garage.

Seems as if a lot of the CCM guys are also interested in vintage cars.

Plymouth's for me.

I'm a CCM guy with a mopar in the Garage. 74 Duster.

Yah, I try not to be too brand loyal but we definitely lean hard on '60s Mopars. The wagon behind the bike stand is a '64 Dodge 330 altered wheelbase two door conversion wagon with a cross ram max wedge. You can read all about it here if you have the time. I'm pretty sure that link didn't work with the whacky settings on this forum. http://alteredwagon.blogspot.ca/

Polara Pat,

Cool story on the altered wheelbase wagon.

I met some of the original Ramchargers members in Detriot for Plymouth's 80th birthday.

They had the reproduction of the 1950 High and Mighty altered wheelbase car  there.

56 Belvedere conv.and 65 Satellite HT for me. (47 and 48 CCM  patina bikes)

Must make it out to Mission.

Cool! I've always had a fondness for Polaras. Would like to find a '61 one day. You did a great job with that wagon. smiley

Thanks guys, '65 Plymouth is one of my favorite platforms and I'd love to build on into an altered or street machine. Mission old time drags is the best if you live on the west coast. We haven't missed it in years.
