No serial number on my '42 Rambler!

Hi there.  I am new to this site, one main reason for joining is that my 1942 Rambler has no serial number on it.  It is simply stamped with '1942' on the seat tube where the serial number should be.  Im of course assuming it is a '42 but has anyone ever seen this on an old CCM.  As far as I have ever seen or heard there is always an actual serial number.

Thank you very much.  Looking forward to hearing feedback.

Hi Paul, welcome to the site. I've never seen a year instead of a serial number, but others here may have. Are you sure there's no letter hiding under paint? A photo is worth a thousand words, can you post a few? Also, if you can get a bike from it's original owner, the age of the owner and their memory of when they got it is a huge help. Do you have any such information? -Brian R.

Oh my gosh, I'm crazy!  I haven't looked at it for a while.  The serial number is OA 1942.  Maybe OA I942.  I'm thinking its an i instead of a 1.  Sorry about that!  So I checked the list again and it looks like its a 1937. XA XXXX.  Sorry about that,  I appreciate the help though.  The rims say 28x 1 3/4 WO if that makes any sense to you.

Another question is the headtube appears to have paint on it.  No head badge.  The paint on the bike is original.  I will post photos soon.  I would love to see another example of it.  I have no idea what it would have looks at new.  I'll do a bit of research in the mean time.

Thanks again for the help Brian R.

I have posted several photos.  One of them is of the headtube.  I have no idea what it would have looked like back in the day.

Thank you to anyone who offers any help to show me a photo of a similar headtube.
