Now that's different

Received this photo of a CCM chain ring that I had never seen before. Has anyone else come across one of these?

The gentlemen who sent me the photo felt that the chain ring was probably not original to the bike it was on, but that the ring dated from the 30's while the frame was much later. Thoughts?

I've only seen one other like this but I'm sure it's original to the bike (60's).

I've seen a couple over the years, and now for some reason I want one really bad.

I have one,on a 60s/70s ladies bike.  The ring is from that period and was made by UEK, England for CCM.

Yes, I have one in my collection with CCM accolated instead of separately distributed around the chainring; the one I have is a girl`s bicycle 1921 A61074 from the Weston plant. The inscription on the brake is Perry B 100. The rear hub has the inscription 36_14

Jimbo.velo:  In all liklihood you have a 1960s frame.  CCM started using the letter "A" again in 1961, so the chart from 1921 to 1960 would not apply.  It would stand to reason that its a 1961 because this crank was in use at the time and not in 1921, also the Perry hub was used on some 60s models.

There is a good thread on the confusing serial  numbers of the 60s.  Can you post pix?   Perhaps your frame IS a 21 with a lot of 60s parts.  Which head badge is on the bike?  If it is the rounded top & bottom shield, it would be post war.

As well, a 1921 CCM certainly would not have had a Perry hub as they made their own "new Hercules" which came in a no arm coaster brake model and one with an arm.

Hope this helps

Jimbo:  Here is thread I referred to

1960's and 1970's serial numbers

jimbovelo           the perry hub marked 36  14  means it has 36 holes and made for 14 gauge spokes    william rudolph

bike in the picture is a 3 speed sa the numbers on the hub will tell you when the hub is made example 6   56 would be june 1956  hope this helps   william rudolph

erik i have one             it is in good condition with a bayliss whiley crank sleve assembly greased and ready to install with new crank pins it came from a 1966 ccm imperial  i would value it at $50.00 or something new old stock or just something interesting make a list and call me 902-477-9734 halifax      william rudolph

Here are pictures that go with the frame number A 61074 and 26 inch wheels that I thought was a 1921 girl juvenile with the CCM 3 letters accolated; I have taken a lot of rust from the paint ahd the chrome of the wheels. Also, the bottom bracket is seized and I cannot take the pins off the crank arms in order to take it apart. The brake arm is inscribed B _100 Perry. You guys have certainly put doubt in my mind as to the date of manufacture.

No doubt, it is a 60s frame.
