Parts needed for Torchy Peden's Flyte

New to this board, but I am in the process of restoring one of Torchy Peden's track bikes circa 1928/30. To make this bike 100% correct, I would need to find a rear hub and a handle bar stem from that vintage or close.

The original hub used in that time was stamped "C.C.M. FLYER" but it will be unlikely that I will find one. If anybody knows were I could locate (close to that vintage) a rear ONE PIECE steel track hub I would love to hear about it. I have added a picture from the front hub so you have a idea of the profile.

I am also hunting for a handlebar stem for the same bike (see picture). However, I do need one with a longer extension, Torchy was a large men.....

Hope to hear from someone.

Casey, that's absolutely fantastic that you've got one of Torchy's racers! I know there are a couple in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary (below) and his gold-plated one is, I believe, in the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame, but outside of that I suspect there are very few around. How did you connect your Flyer to Torchy?

This bike does not belong to me, it belongs to the Greater Victoria Hall of Fame and this bike will be on display (when ready) in the "Safe on Foods" building in Victoria. Having restored many pre-war bicycles, they contacted me for the job. Great project !!!

I am aware of the one displayed in Vancouver and down east.

In any case, I hope I can find the pieces I need to complete this baby.

Still, what a great project to be working on! I get the sense that folks in the west are far more familiar with Torchy than those of us in the east, but I guess that makes sense given that he was from there.

Came across this update of Casey's project. Looks stunning to say the least.

wow sweet restoration

Casey,

I am looking for a similar front CCM track hub for my 1920's Flyer restoration project.

Do you (or any one out there) have a spare one that you can sell?

Regards

Tony
